Who we are
United Way of Laurens County has been serving the health and human services needs of the people of Laurens County since 1955, working to advance the common good by focusing on education, income, and health. These are the building blocks for a good life - a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.
Our goal is to create long-lasting changes that prevent problems from happening in the first place. United Way of Laurens County partners with 20 like-minded agencies to provide health care, elder care, disaster relief, crisis prevention, crisis intervention, education, literacy, and youth-focused programs.
What we do
Everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health.
That’s why United Way’s work is focused on the building blocks for a good life:
- Education - Helping Children and Youth Achieve Their Potential
- Income - Promoting Financial Stability and Independence
- Health - Improving People’s Health
Advancing the common good is less about helping one person at a time and more about changing systems to help all of us. We are all connected and interdependent. We all win when a child succeeds in school, when families are financially stable, when people are healthy.
United Way’s goal is to create long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of these problems. Living united means being a part of the change.
Each year, local service agencies petition United Way of Laurens County for funds through a Community Impact grants process.
It isn't enough that we raise money each year and grant it to 24 very worthy agencies, we also believe we should empower the community to rally around itself to make a difference. To that end, we offer two key volunteer opportunities through our Day of Caring and School Supplies Drive.
It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future. Give. Advocate. Volunteer. LIVE UNITED.
