United Way hosts Phase 33 Local Board Meeting for the FEMA Emergency food and Shelter program
NOTICE   Wednesday, June 29, 2016- United Way of Laurens County will be hosting the Phase 33 Local Board Meeting for the FEMA Emergency food and Shelter program.  This meeting will be held at 9 a.m. at the United Way of Laurens County office.   The National FEMA EFSP Board has announced a $35,566 award to Laurens County in Federal Funds for Phase 33 under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.    This funding level is an increase from previous award
UWLC holds 24th Annual Golf Championship
United Way of Laurens County held its 24th Annual Golf Championship on Friday, May 13th at Lakeside Country Club. Presenting Sponsors for the tournament were GHS/Laurens County Memorial Hospital, Laurens County Water and Sewer Commission, Laurens Electric Cooperative, and PRTC. Team Consolidated Pipe came in 1st place.  Players included Tommy Marchman, Chris Lindley, Barry Ward, & Greg Moore. Free books given to local children
The United Way of Laurens County hosted a book drive in April 2016 to collect books for local children.  Rhythm on the Rails in the City of Clinton was a perfect opportunity to share these books with the hopes of promoting childhood literacy in Laurens County.  Many children were given free books to read during the upcoming summer months.
Annual Day of Caring held Saturday, April 23rd
The United Way of Laurens County held its Annual Day of Caring event on Saturday, April 23, 2016.   By hosting this Day of Caring, the community is exposed to the agencies that provide much needed health and human services to Laurens County residents. Local Volunteer Tax Program Helps Hundreds File For Free
In spite of challenges, free tax program helped many in our community
Death and taxes; two inescapable (and expensive) aspects of life, according to Benjamin Franklin. Every spring, low-income individuals and families face the burden of paying large fees for tax preparation. The nationwide Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA) recognizes this need and strives to alleviate some of this financial strain.
