The Board of Directors of the
United Way of
Laurens
County
is pleased to announce the selection of its new Executive Director.
Tara Glenn
was named to the position on Friday, May 15.
Glenn currently serves as the Events Planning Specialist for the organization, a post she has held for almost two years. She will continue to work with the current Executive Director, Caroline Thomas, until late June to ensure a smooth transition.
“Tara possesses the skills necessary to do a most effective job,” said

. “She has knowledge and experience of
United Way fundraising, events planning, and media relations needed for the position as well as excellent overall public relations and communications skills.”

, this community holds a special place in my heart,” said Glenn. “I look forward to building on the great achievements of Caroline Thomas, The Board of Directors, and all of our volunteers. They have all done amazing work in

County
.”
Glenn graduated from
Clinton
High School
in 1999 and received a Bachelors of Science degree in Marketing from
Clemson
University
in 2002. After living and working in the Charleston area for several years, Glenn returned to
Laurens
County
to settle with her family.
Civically, Glenn serves as an Ambassador with the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce. She and her husband, Jayson, also a
Laurens
County
native, have one son, Owen, age 6 months, and are members of First Baptist Church of Clinton where she serves on the CARE Ministry and as a volunteer with youth programs.
United Way of Laurens County has been focused on meeting the education, income and health needs of residents of
Laurens
County
since 1955. The
United Way and its 20 affiliated partner agencies impact the lives of over 45,000 residents each year in
Laurens
County
.
