2012 Bags of Love
United Way of Laurens County and Senior Options teamed up to provide Bags Of Love to Meals on Wheels recipients in Laurens County . Local businesses and community members participated by filling up Bags Of Love to be distributed with meals on Wednesday, February 15th.
“Each year the participation from the community has been amazing,” said Christine Pyles, Client Coordinator at Senior Options. “It is a joy for us to see the expression on the participants faces when they receive the gift bags. Some participants will send us thank you cards or give us a call to let us know that they appreciate the gift bags.”
Gift bags of all sizes were filled with travel-sized personal care items such as toothpaste, soap, tissues, etc. Some bags also had devotional books, candy, cards, and more! Since more than 500 bags were collected for distribution, bags are being distributed to Meals on Wheels recipients, Adult Day Care clients, and local nursing home residents!
Senior Options’ Meals on Wheels program delivers around 1100 meals every Wednesday to approximately 200 residents in Laurens County . The home delivered meals are available to persons who cannot cook for themselves, who have no one to cook for them, and are homebound.
United Way of Laurens County is a non-profit organization which has served the Laurens County area since 1955 and supports 18 local non profit agencies in the areas of education, income, and health.
